The "why not" story.

Yesterday I mentioned that if a college you cover doesn’t offer any online coursework, that is a story in its own right. There are a lot of potential “why not” stories floating around in the K-12 universe too. Why do reforms with so much national momentum pass by certain jurisdictions completely? It is an interesting and important question to ask, regardless of what people think of the reforms. If you find yourself writing about a teachers contract that hinges on health care and ignores evaluation and performance, or if you are in one of the 11 states or many districts without charter schools, that doesn’t mean you’ve dodged a reportorial bullet. It means you are due for a “why not” story.
